Uganda Film Festival is underway for its 12th edition of celebrating UG filmmakers and stories with its final day 6th June with a grand award ceremony to celebrate local stories told with purpose in the Ugandan industry .
The awards ceremony will take place at Uganda Institute Of Information and Communications Technology (UICT ) Nakawa, starting at 4:00 PM, where outstanding filmmakers and their works are to be honoured with awards and certificates for categories such as Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, and Best Documentary.
The Uganda Film Festival gathers all the people involved in the making of a film then proceeds to empower through trainings and award their Efforts with awards and certificates.
The Uganda Film Festival 2025, organized by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), is a significant cultural event aimed at promoting Uganda’s film industry, featuring film screenings, workshops, forums, and an awards gala from May 26th to June 6th, 2025, highlighting the theme “Local Stories, Global Impact. Educational sessions aimed at empowering filmmakers through skills development in areas such as scriptwriting, cinematography, editing, and distribution
Film Screenings of outstanding films like Taata, Mysteries Of Love, Janani, The Legends, and many more have been screened in Cinmeas like Acacia,Arena , Metroplex , Numax all in promotion of the Ugandan Film.
From film screenings, masterclasses and the grand awards gala, the festival not only showcases cinematic works but also includes educational components like workshops and forums, fostering professional development and networking among filmmakers, distributors, and investors, which is crucial for the growth of the local film industry.
