Zuena Kirema, the spouse of Ugandan musician Bebe Cool, boldly responds to social media comparisons of her daughter, Beata Ssali, and Shalom Namagembe, the daughter of fellow musician and Politician Bobi Wine.
In an emotional post on X, Zuena conveyed her disappointment regarding the unnecessary rivalry being fueled online, imploring Ugandans to cherish unity and eliminate the harmful practice of pitting young children against each other.
The comparisons, triggered by recent images of Beata and Shalom circulating online, have attracted unwarranted scrutiny concerning the appearances and lifestyles of the two teenagers, with some people comparing the two based on beauty. This started with images of Shalom beautifully dressed in her Prom Party Dress. Netzens online then started comparing her prom picture with that of Shalom’s Prom Picture.
Zuena, a passionate advocate for positivity, stressed that such posts were never meant to incite competition. Rather, she emphasized the genuine friendship shared between the two girls, referring to them as “beautiful and truly loved,” while encouraging them to maintain their “heads high” as they chase their aspirations.
In her heartfelt message, Zuena touched on a broader societal issue, a tendency of some Ugandans to criticize and undermine each other.
“It’s heartbreaking how foreigners perceive Ugandans as friendly and kind-hearted, yet we are damaging each other from within.Anything a Ugandan does is constantly scrutinized by other Ugandans; we simply don’t want to see each other excel.” She expressed in her post.
It’s so sad how foreigners see Ugandans as welcoming and good people, but we are tearing each other apart from within. Anything that a Ugandan does is always criticized by fellow Ugandans,we just don’t want to see the other doing better 😌.

She challenged the notion that not every social media post is an attempt at competition, asking netizens to cease creating unnecessary drama and cultivate a culture of support instead of division.
“Today, I stand to put an end to this nonsense of comparing young children,” she asserted, highlighting the emotional impact such behavior can have on the young ones.
