MTN FUFA Awards Makes A Triumphant Return, Honouring 2024’s Finest

On the evening of May 30, 2025, Kampala Serena Hotel was abuzz with excitement as the MTN FUFA Awards 2024 returned after a four-year shut to honour the finest contributors to Ugandan football. Hosted by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and sponsored by MTN Uganda, Nile Breweries, and Nivana, the glamorous event celebrated outstanding performances from the 2024 football season under the theme ‘Celebrating Football Heroes, Inspiring Future Stars’. The night was a vibrant showcase of talent, dedication, and the growing legacy of Ugandan football, with 16 categories recognizing players, coaches, fans, and other key stakeholders who have elevated the sport.

The night culminated in 16 awards being presented, with the top male and female footballers walking away with brand-new Subaru Outback cars and a beautiful performance from Legendary Jose Chameleon. Winners Of The Night Included, Denis Omedi (Male Player Of the Year), Zainah Nandede(Female Player Of the Year), Brian Senyondo (Men’s Football Coach Of the Year), Ayub  Khalifah ( Women’s Football Coach Of The Year), Denis Omedi ( FUFA Goal Of the Year) James Bogere(Upcoming talent  Award), Brian Nkuubi(Beach Soccer Player Of the Year), Liyas Omar Omran (Futsal Player Of the Year), Futsal Association Uganda( FUFA Member Associations’ Award), Birangirangi Group (Fans Of the Year), Ashford Mamelodi (FUFA Presidential Award), Rogers Mato(Fans  Ugandan Foreign-based Player Of the Year), Uganda Club (Best Squad Of a Particular Year), Geoffrey Mugerwa(male), Catherine  Nassali(Female) MTN Media Personality Of the Year. Female Best XI Category included Daisy Nakaziro(GK), Jolly Kobusinge, Samalie Nakacwa, Auki Kigongo, Shakirah Nankwanga, Zainah Nandede, Phiona Nabulime, Resty Kobusobozi, Shamirah Nalugya, Agnes Nabukenya, Sylvia Kabene and the Male Best XI Category; Hannington Sebwalunyo (GK) Geraga Atendele, Nicholas Mwere, Hillary Mukundane, Arnold Odong, Enock Ssebagala, Patrick Jonah Kakande, Ronald Ssekiganda, Allan Okello, Denis Omedi, Jude Ssemugabi.

The 2024 MTN FUFA Awards also coincided with FUFA’s unveiling of the new Uganda Premier League trophy, Margherita, named after Uganda’s highest peak on the Rwenzori Mountains. This symbolic silver trophy was presented to 2024/25 champions Vipers SC.The MTN FUFA Awards 2024 not only honoured the achievements of 2024 but also set the stage for an exciting future for Ugandan football.
