Hunt for Socialite Don Chris, The Man Behind a Massive Job Scam

Kampala’s well-known socialite, Christian Asiimwe, affectionately called Don Chris, is currently on the run after being accused of defrauding over 100 Ugandans in a job scam that promised opportunities abroad.

This situation has left many individuals feeling quite upset, as it is believed he has taken off with more than 500 million shillings.

Known for his lavish lifestyle and love for music events, Don Chris is reportedly hiding out abroad, in an attempt to avoid legal troubles.

In August 2023, Don Chris founded Skypins Tours and Travel Company, which he marketed as an immigration firm.

The company quickly gained attention through ads on various media platforms, claiming to provide Ugandans with job opportunities mainly in Europe and America.

Despite his advice against selling valuables or taking loans for fees, emphasizing the uncertainty of embassy approvals, many people, desperate for a better life, chose to ignore his caution. Video circulating online highlights  claims of Don defrauding the people.

The excitement around these advertisements led many hopefulv to Skypins Tours and Travel Company at Haruna Mall in Ntinda, unaware that the dreams they harbored would soon turn into a heartbreaking experience.

The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) began looking into the scam on June 17, 2025, initially identifying 85 victims, although many believe the true number is larger.

Unfortunately, Skypins was unhelpful when it came to issuing refunds, which led the police to undertake a manhunt for Don Chris.

Additionally, the Ministry of Gender and Labour has pointed out that Skypins never held a license to operate as an external labor recruitment agency, further revealing the deceitful nature of this scheme.
