Former Police Commander Nixon Agasirwe Arrested In connection to Murder of Prosecutor Joan Kagezi

On May 22nd 2025, Nixon Agasirwe was arrested in connection with the 2015 murder of Prosecutor Joan Kagezi, following a testimony from a convicted accomplice, Daniel Kiwanuka Kisekka a former UPDF soldier.

Kisekka was convicted guilty on Monday after pleading guilty to his role of killing the prosecutor  and was sentenced to 35 years imprisonment. Prosecutor Joan Kisekka  was  tragically   gunned down twice on the neck while buying mangoes In Kiwaatule.

Nixon Agasirwe was a former head of Operations and former Commandant at the Special Investigations Unit until 2017 when he was arrested and charged with possession of ammunition and kidnapping of Rwandan Refugees. The accusation was on unlawful possession of firearms,tortoise grenades and handing over the refugees to Rwandan authority without consent.

His trial delayed and he spent four years on remand before being granted bail in 2022 by the General court Martial in Makindye and the case is still on going.

The allegations aganist  Agasirwe are serious and if true,would represent a shocking betrayal of  Public trust to those who are meant to maintain law and order. As one citizen noted on social media,“If the allegations against Nixon are true, it’s a chilling betrayal by someone meant to uphold the law”
