Court Nullifies Kawempe North MP Seat And Declares It Vacant.

As of  May 26th, the High Court nullified the election of  NUP’s  Elias  Luyimbazi Nalukoola as Kawempe  Division North Consistency Member Of Parliament citing irregularities during the election  process after a successful petition by NRM’s Faridah Nambi Kigongo.

Justice Bernard Namanya declared the seat vacant  and has ordered  the Electoral  Commission to organize fresh elections to be held in the Constituency to determine the rightful representative  and each Party is to meet i’ts cost. The Court claims that Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola campaigned on Election day  and elections were disrupted at 14 polling stations.

Its to be affirmed  that Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola was just recently elected as the Member Of Parliament of Kawempe  North on Marth 13,2025 defeating his closet rival in the race, NRM’s Faridah  Kigongo Nambi . The election in the Consistuency  was held after the death of the previous Member Of Parliament, Muhammad Ssegirinya on 9th  January 2025.

On March 25,2025  Faridah Nambi  filled a petition seeking a vote recount but later withdrew it on March 25 after the Electoral Commission  announced Nalukoola as the Winner. Nalukoola was then sworn in as the Member Of Parliament on March 26,2025. However the election was marred with Violence and harrasment of Journalists.  Nalukoola becomes  the first  shortest serving Member of Parliament in Uganda and hopefully if the people of Kawempe  North Vote him in, it could be another win for him as they await Electoral Commission date for the re-election.
