Are you planning on touring uganda or east Africa and you are thinking about an Airbnb experience as well? Tips for a safe travel

As a Ugandan, I’m excited to share my insights with you, a fellow Ugandan or a visitor about using Airbnb as you explore our beautiful country and the East African region.

Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or embarking on your first adventure, Airbnb can be a fantastic way to experience the authentic culture and hospitality of Uganda and its neighboring countries.

Getting Started with the trip

When planning your trip, consider the regions you want to visit. Uganda is a stunning country with diverse landscapes, from the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains to the vast savannas of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Not forgetting the beauty of lake Victoria and river Nile. And the equator

If you’re interested in exploring beyond Uganda, East Africa offers a wealth of exciting destinations, including Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, and Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve.

So first have a list of the places you want to visit and go ahead to clearly see their locations because you might need more than one Airbnb since most of these places are in different regions.

Choosing Your Accommodation

Is it at this point where we have the pillow talk? 😂 Well you might need to carry your pillow if you are like me but regardless, Airbnb got you covered here.

Airbnb offers a wide range of accommodations in Uganda and East Africa, from cozy apartments and houses to unique experiences like homestays and luxury lodges. When selecting your accommodation, consider factors like location in relation to your places of interest, price, and amenities. Look for hosts with good reviews and a clear description of what they offer.

Tips for Booking an Airbnb

Be specific about your needs: Clearly communicate with your host about your requirements, such as Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, or transportation. While most hosts might not offer transport, there are hosts who go ahead to provide these services if you need them so be open and make your experience worth every single penny.

Read reviews carefully: Check the reviews from previous guests to get an idea of what to expect from the accommodation and the host. Although there’s a trend of bots giving the reviews, there’s always a review that will open your eyes about a particular host especially on issues like security.

Plan ahead: Book your accommodation well in advance, especially during peak travel seasons. This will help you avoid the last minute rush. Booking in advance also makes you familiar with the host even before you get there.

Tips for Traveling in East Africa

Research local customs and traditions: Understand the local culture and customs to ensure a respectful and enjoyable experience.
