Singer Daudi Mugema Found Dead in Gulu Hotel.

On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Uganda’s gospel music community was heartbroken by the unexpected passing of the beloved singer Daudi Mugema.

Fans were devastated to learn that he was found unresponsive in his hotel room in Gulu.

Daudi is  known for his inspiring hit song “Katonda w’abanaku teyeebaka” and had touched the hearts of many with his devotion to gospel music with unique style of craft.

The circumstances surrounding his passing are still under investigation, as authorities work to ascertain the cause of his  death.

Daudi had traveled to Gulu in hopes of seeking financial assistance from General Salim Saleh, a notable military figure, to help him with ongoing health challenges that had led him to seek specialized treatment abroad.

Last year, he received support from Kampala’s Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago, which enabled him to travel to Turkey for care related to a leg condition.

Upon his return from Turkey, Daudi said it was discovered that what he had been facing wasn’t cancer.

Atleast there was  some bit of  improvement and was even walking again.

Sadly, it appears that his health issues resurfaced after his release from prison, where he expressed that he had gone through a tough experience.

While details about his funeral arrangements are still pending,  fellow musicians have gathered at the National Theatre to pay their respects.
